چکیده
Summan The controversial issue of enhanced pancreatic carcinogenesis follolwing partial gastrectomy has been explored in male Wistar rats (n = 40) weighing 250 -300 g. Animals were randomised to receive either 60% distal gastrectomy With Roux-en-Y reconstruction or gastrotomy and resuture (control). Immediately after operation each group was further divided into two subgroups, receiving i.p. injections of either saline or

Effect of Particulate Properties of Inhaled Dry Powder Formulation on Bioavailability, Dissolution Rate of Drug Particles and Rate of Drug Removal from the Body
Introduction: The use of pulmonary drug delivery as a non-invasive drug delivery system for the systemic treatment of diseases as well as the topical treatment of respiratory diseases is increasing. Among the various inhaled formulations, inhaled dry powders show advantages over the other forms of inhaled medicines due to high stability, bioavailability and ease of use. The effect of particle p...
متن کاملTHE ROLE OF ALVEOLAR MACROPHAGES IN THE PRODUCTION OF COLONY –STIMULATING FACTOR BY THE LUNG
The role of alveolar macrophages in the production of granulocyte/ macrophage colony-stimulating factor(s) by the rat lung was investigated. Lavaged lungs, when incubated at proper weight per volume of culture medium, produced the same amount of colony-stimulating factor as unlavaged ones. Both lavaged and unlavaged lungs produced similar types of colony-stimulating factor (s). Prolonged i...
متن کاملMaxillary alveolar bone grafting: the role of Platelet-rich plasma (PRF)
Introduction: Gold standard for alveolar cleft bone grafting is autogenous bone. Advantage of adding the growth factors to the bone is established, so adding PRF to the autogenous bone may have beneficial effects. Methods: Platelet-rich plasma admixed with autogenous bone and as a biologic membrane over the bone grafted alveolar cleft was used. Results: Autogenous bone in all (four cases...
متن کاملThe Role of the Alveolar Macrophage in the Clearance of Bacteria from the Lung
Pulmonary clearance of bacteria was studied using histologic, bacteriologic, and radiotracer methods. When mice were exposed to an aerosol of P(32)-tagged Staphylococcus aureus or Proteus mirabilis, and the rate of disappearance of viable bacteria compared with the rate of their mechanical removal, it was found that bacterial viability declined 80 to 90 per cent in 4 hours, whereas radioactivit...
متن کاملMaintaining Respiratory Health in Cystic Fibrosis Patients
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease that primarily affects the lungs and the digestive system, however, it also affects a number of other organs and systems. More than 90% of mortality of CF patients is due to lung complications. Healthy lungs are important for a long life for people with CF, We will discuss two important topics for maintaining respiratory health. Chronic use of drug...
